Naïve listeners will be quite confused when the Smokey Robinson-penned, classic Motown sound of "My Girl" is abruptly followed by the 1970s soul of "Superstar (Remember How You Got Where You Are)" - a jarring transition since the Temptations of the early '70s were essentially an entirely different group with little in common to their classic Motown identity. Perhaps if the album was sequenced chronologically or if it at least listed dates for each of the songs, this wouldn't be such a frustrating listen. First of all, it doesn't include any liner notes, which causes a lot of problems for new listeners who are unfamiliar with this group's career. So in a way, this album functions as a succinct taste of what this group accomplished unfortunately, though, it falters as a quality greatest-hits album, offering little value to the listener. This shady compilation does an adequate job summing up this classic Motown group's career, featuring a few of their well-known hits from the 1960s ("My Girl," "The Way You Do the Things You Do") as well as a large sampling of their lesser-known hits from the early '70s ("Psychedelic Shack," "Just My Imagination ").
